  • The Thermal Baths of Scholastica: Built in the 1st Century and restored in the 4th Century by a wealthy Christian woman named Scholastica. This location was not only used to bathe but also to socialize and discuss the topics of the day.
  • Trajan’s Fountain: The site was constructed in around 104 C.E for the honour of Emperor Trajan. The pool of the fountain measured 20×10 meters, surrounded by columns and statues.

After your Greek island hopping tours, it’s time for the mainland. The Corinth Canal is a junction of international sea transport that serves ships coming from the western Mediterranean and Adriatic en route to eastern Mediterranean and black Sea ports. You’ll continue along the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf to Epidaurus.

On the headland called “Nesi” at Palaia Epidaurus you will visit the historic theatre of the ancient city. The theatre is well-preserved, in the shape it acquired during the latter years of its function. The theater is marveled for its exceptional acoustics which permit almost perfect intelligibility of unamplified spoken word from the proscenium or scene to all 12,000 spectators, regardless of their seating.

You will then depart for Nauplia, the first capital of Greece in 1829 (Short Stop), then drive to Mycenae. “Mycenae is the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon, the most important and richest palatial centre of the Late Bronze Age in Greece. Its name was given to one of the greatest civilizations of Greek prehistory, the Mycenaean civilization.” In the afternoon, it’s time to depart for Olympia for dinner and an overnight stay.

Its fame rests upon the Olympic Games, which was held every four years to honor Zeus. You’ll visit this archaeological site & the museum before driving to Rion, across the channel to Antirrion, onto the new state of the art suspended bridge, considered to be the longest and most modern in Europe. You will then arrive in Nafpaktos and continue to Delphi for dinner and an overnight stay.

Delphi was regarded as the centre of the world. According to mythology, it is here that the two eagles sent out by Zeus from the ends of the universe to find the navel of the world met.

The sanctuary of Delphi, set within a most spectacular landscape, was for many centuries the cultural and religious centre and symbol of unity for the Hellenic world and seat of the Pythian Games, the second most important games in Greece after the Olympics. You’ll explore the archaeological site and museum, where you can see the unique bronze statue of the Charioteer dedicated to Apollo by Polyzalos, the tyrant of Gela, in 478 B.C. Monks descended the mountains in nets or on retractable wooden ladders up to 40m long to the fertile valleys below. Each community developed its own resources and by the end of the 14th century, the Grand Meteoron emerged as the dominant community.
