Welcome to Athens!

This Greece trip package begins in Athens. Upon your arrival, the driver will be waiting for you right outside the Arrivals Hall holding a sign with your name to transfer you to your hotel. Our representative will wait for you in the hotel to welcome you and brief you about your trip. Check in and enjoy free time for relaxation or a stroll through the capital of Greece.

Panoramic sightseeing in Athens - Group tour

On day 2 of the essential Greece trip package, you will travel through time between the “old” and the “new” Athens. You will marvel at the magnificent ancient ruins of the past and explore the modern architecture of the city. You will have the chance to visit the Acropolis, an exquisite landmark of Athens, exhibiting its glorious history along with the Parthenon, the Propylea, the temple of Athena, Nike, and the Erechtheion. Other equally impressive and historic sites are the Roman Temple of Olympic Zeus and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier which is housed with the Parliament House in Syntagma (Constitution) Square.

The National Archeological Museum of Athens is the most famous archaeological museums to visit during Greece tours. It is one of the richest in the world concerning ancient Greek art. Its collections are representative of all the cultures that flourished in Greece. The construction of the museum was begun in 1866 and completed in 1889, with the gradual addition of the north, west, south, and east wings throughout the rest of the 1800s.

Group tour of Mycenae, the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon

Depart in the morning for the Canal of Corinth for a quick coffee or snapshot of the famous canal. Our next stop will be at Epidaurus, visiting the Ancient Theatre with its outstanding acoustics and then passing by the Bay of Nafplion. Here we will have a short stop in the picturesque town of Nafplion. Continuing through the plain of Argos, we arrive at Mycenae, legendary home of the Lions Gate and the Tomb of King Agamemnon. We’ll end the day with a drive through the Central Peloponnese, passing the towns of Tripoli and Megalopolis, arriving in Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games for dinner and an overnight stay.

Group tour of Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games

Olympia is the most celebrated sanctuary of ancient Greece, dedicated to Zeus, the father of the gods, it sprawls over the southwest foot of Mount Kronos, at the confluence of the Alpheios and the Kladeos rivers. Although secluded near the west coast of the Peloponnese, Olympia became the most important religious and athletic center in Greece. Its fame rests upon the Olympic Games, which was held every four years to honor Zeus. You’ll visit this archaeological site and the museum before driving to Rion,   the channel to Antirrion, onto the new state of the art suspended bridge, considered to be the longest and most modern in Europe. You will then arrive in Nafpaktos and continue to Delphi for dinner and an overnight stay.

Group tour of Delphi, the navel of the earth

Next is Delphi, “The Navel of the Earth.” Here you will visit the Delphi Museum containing the famous bronze Charioteer, the statue of Antinoos, and the athlete Aghias. You’ll also visit the ancient Delphi Sanctuary, with its renowned ruins of the “Omphalos” (Navel) of the Ancient world. You will feel the mystery in the “Temple of Apollo” where Pythia was seated when giving out her predictions of the future. You can gaze upon the “Castalia Spring” with two monumental fountains receiving water from the spring for the last 3000 years. You are then free to spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring Delphi at your own leisure. Dinner and an overnight stay are also included.

Group tour of the breathtaking Meteora

In the morning, we start with a drive through central Greece, passing the towns of Amphissa, Lamia and Trikala before arriving in Kalambaka. In the afternoon you will visit the well-known Meteora, with its awe inspiring Byzantine Monasteries constructed on top of huge rocks, seemingly suspended in mid-air. After the tour you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Group tour of the city of Thessaloniki

We start the day with a drive past Trikala and Larissa to visit the sacred Macedonian town of Dion, which lies at the foot of Mount Olympus. Continuing on, we’ll head for Thessaloniki, the largest town in Northern Greece. Next stop is the Museum of Thessaloniki and sightseeing trip of the city. After the tour you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Group tour of Pella & Vergina - The Kingdom of Alexander the Great

In the morning, you’ll drive to and visit Pella, which at the end of 5th century B.C was the capital of Alexander the Great’s Macedonian kingdom. You’ll then continue to Vergina to visit the tomb of King Phillip (father of Alexander the Great) and the famous “Vergina Treasures”. Then you’ll move on to Lefkadia to visit the excavations and end the day with a return to Thessaloniki via Veria for dinner and an overnight stay.

Return to Athens via Thermolylae

Today you will start the return drive to Athens through the Tempi Valley, Larisa, Lamia. Along the way, you will visit Thermopylae and the Leonida Monument, famous for the ancient battle that took place there in 480 B.C.

Flight from Athens to Chania

The driver will be waiting for you in the lobby of the hotel to transfer you to Athens International Airport.

Duration of the trip is approximately 50 minutes.

The driver will be waiting for right outside the arrivals hall of the airport to transfer you to your hotel. Check-in and enjoy some free time for the rest of your day.

Private Greece tours of the 7 villages of Apokoronas

On day 12, you will take a tour of the unique area of Apokoronas, the East part of Chania Region. On the way to Apokoronas, one of the first villages is Aptera. We will visit the ancient city with its Roman theatre and the monastery of Saint John. The water cisterns and the ruins of the market will appear a few meters away. Next you will enjoy the breathtaking view of Souda bay from the Ottoman fortress of Aptera.
